Stainless Steel Rod Holder RAIL Mount Double Wire
12 October 2016The product themselves are very good and sturdy, however they slip around the rail. There is a glue substance on the clamp faces which i assume is to help grip onto the rail (my rail is 25mm diameter) but it does not clamp tight enough. Tightening the screws more stripped out the thread. The way I fixed it was to glue sand inside the clamp faces. I did not have enough gap to use sand paper so just glued sand inside and also used longer stainless steel hex cap bolts which protruded through the threaded hole and then glued a locking nut underneath. The glue was to prevent the nut from vibrating loose. I can now virtually stand on the rod holders without them slipping and rotating on the rail. If the supplier can produce this product with a grip substance (such as sand or similar) already adhered inside the clamp faces, other than what they currently use, then I would have given them a 5 star rating. Having said that, for the price (cheaper than plastic rod holders) they are very good. Just fix the slipping issue before you loose a rod.
